Mankayane – As the world continues to commemorate World AIDS Day, the Board in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, NERCHA, Health Plus4 Men, Kwakha Indvodza and other partners jointly held the World AIDS Day 2022 campaign at the Mankayane Bus Terminal. This was done in support of the people living with HIV, and to also remember those who have died from AIDS related illnesses. Interim Vice Chairman, Councillor Cyril Kunene in his opening remarks affirmed the Board’s commitment to continue collaborating with national stakeholders in supporting HIV/AIDS services for all. He went on to unpack some of the Board’s activities that are aimed at supporting HIV sensitisation within Mankayane urban spaces. These include the Boards:
- Annual budget which compromises of programmes dedicated to local HIV programmes.
- Forums that engage adolescent girls and young women, conducted monthly for empowerment and the sharing of experiences.
- Collaboration with other NGOs quarterly engages key populations to access HIV services.
- Mandate to continue engaging the local community with information.
- Engagement of officers that drive the implementation of activities related to ending AIDS in town.
