Mankayane – The 19th April 2024 will forever remain in the memories of Mankayane citizens. It will be a day that will be safely kept in the history books of the town for all to reminisce to the next generations to come.
The excitement and thrill everyone experienced after hosting His Majesty’s 56th Birthday celebration is unmatched. Hundreds of people from Mankayane surrounding areas, the entire nation and international citizens flocked the town to celebrate together with their Majesties, nearly 30 years since the same event was last celebrated in Mankayane.
It is yet another big event that Mankayane is proud to have successfully hosted. Mankayane was fortunate enough to be recognized by their Majesties as the next destination to host this National event. The Board is humbled and remains grateful to His Majesty King Mswati lll and the Eswatini Government for choosing Mankayane as better fit to host the auspicious celebration.
The Town Clerk, Madlopha David when addressing media houses during the event build up stated that this recognition resembles love and care from His Majesty, reason being you can only observe milestones like this with people you love. Moreover, the CEO discoursed that there are a lot of opportunities to venture in Mankayane and this event will play a major role in promoting them. It is a belief that wherever His Majesty visits, huge development follows afterwards. Therefore the Board is confident that Mankayane will never be the same going forward.
It goes without saying that the Board could not have implemented such as auspicious event solely. A National event of such caliber requires teamwork and collaboration from various technical department to drive its success; from planning, preparations all the way to implementation. That said, the Board sends unwavering gratitude to various organizations and stakeholders that participated and supported the event through labor and resource provision from the preparation stages, the Clean-up campaign all the way to the main event.
Key players that were involved include the Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Works & Home Affairs; Mankayane Police, Eswatini Electricity Company, Fire & Emergency Service, Eswatini Water Services Corporation, Local Authotities (Malkerns Town Council, Municipal Council of Mbabane, Matsapha Town Council, Nhlangano Town Council, Siteki Town Council, Municipal Council of Manzini, Ngwenya Town Board, Hlathikhulu Town Board and Ezulwini Town Council), the entire local business community and residents of the town.
Through local interviews in the aftermath, local businesses showed signs of happiness as they confirmed positive feedback that they benefitted immensely from the populace that visited Mankayane on the day. The flocked streets of the town and packed shops were evident of their confessions.
The Board’s excitement comes from seeing local businesses thrive in their unique business endeavors, so as to improve the economy of the town. His Majesty’s theme for the year speaks to ‘A Year of Creating Opportunities for All to Stimulate Economic Growth; Asitsi Nkwe. The Board is committed to working hard to accelerate development in Mankayane.
